Shockoe Bottom Memorial Park
Richmond, VA
Center for Design Engagement
Summers 2016 – 17

The Sacred Ground Historical Reclamation Project and the National Trust for Historical Preservation invited the Center for Design Engagement [C*DE] to facilitate a community design charette in Shockoe Bottom, an area of Richmond VA that was once one of the largest slavery outposts in the United States. The development of a masterplan for a Memorial Park ensued. I was accompanied by C*DE directors Max Page and Joseph Krupczynski, as well graduate students Nicholas Jeffway and Camesha Scruggs, and engaged in the all aspects of the charette.
